- Advance daily vehicle permit required — four-hour blocks or full day, card payment only. Day use only, no camping.
- Multiple 2025–26 visitor reports say the Cataract Falls viewing platform and close-approach route have been closed for erosion damage. This is NOT confirmed on any Ontario Parks page — check before you make the drive.
Just over the county line in Caledon, 282 hectares taking in Cataract Falls — a 13-metre plunge on the Credit River beside the ruins of a hydro plant that ran from 1899 to 1947 — a kettle lake, an old rail alignment, and 10-plus kilometres of trails including Bruce Trail sections, the Meadow Trail, Kettle Lake Trail and Dominion Trail.
Around 51,600 official visitors came through in 2022, which tells you to arrive early on a fall weekend.
Before you drive out
Two things, and the second matters more:
- It’s gated on the same Ontario Parks system as Mono Cliffs — advance permit, card only. See our park permits page.
- The falls access may be closed. Multiple visitor reports through 2025 and 2026 describe the viewing platform and the close-approach route as shut for erosion damage. We could not confirm this on any official Ontario Parks page, and we’re not going to state it as fact — but if the waterfall is the whole reason you’re going, phone the park first.
Note: we’ve deliberately left the drive time off this listing. The published figures for the Caledon cluster don’t hold up against local knowledge and we’d rather show nothing than a number that’s wrong.
