Grand Valley — multiple access points·~25 min west from Orangeville·10.5 km·Four-season
Ten and a half kilometres of former Canadian Pacific corridor running through Grand Valley, and unusually open in what it permits: walking, cycling, horseback riding and cross-country skiing, with snowmobiles allowed on parts of it in winter under the applicable rules.
That mix is rarer than it sounds. Most trails around here pick a lane — the Bruce Trail is a footpath, Mono Nordic is groomed ski track. The Upper Grand takes almost everybody.
Being a rail bed it is flat, which makes it a good introduction for anyone not ready for the escarpment, and it pairs naturally with the Grand River and Luther Marsh for a full day out west.
